![]() Some examples of things I've blocked from background data are Facebook (only use on wifi), Samsung Push Service, Netflix (only use on wifi), e-mail apps (can wait until I'm on wifi), spotify (I'm sure the background data is only to send me nags for their premium features). I've gotten myself in the habit of turning data off when I don't need it to avoid background data usage, but I also check this setting every month or so to make sure some new app I installed isn't quietly eating data. Anything that she wants working normally while away from wifi that makes sense for background data, like a weather app that has a current-temp notification that updates occasionally is obviously going to use data in the background so you wouldn't want to restrict that. For Android It is also easy enough for you to do this on an Android device. In addition to Sprint TV & Movies and Nascar Mobile, Sprint has pre-loaded these 10 additional apps that can be uninstalled: 1Weather, Messaging. You can then go back into the App store to re-download the app onto your iPhone device. Our latest Sprint Zone app gives you access to assistance with your account and device, right from your phone. The delete app option should eventually appear. While you're there restrict any other apps that show data usage that she doesn't use. First, you can delete the app by holding down your finger on the app for a few seconds. If she's never starting the app than everything it is using is background data. If you go into the settings > data somewhere in there you should be able to find a list of apps that use background data and restrict background data usage. I'm guessing this is some bit of Sprint bloatware that's on the phone because her CDMA phone is actually riding on Sprint's network via Ting.Īnyone have any info on this, and hopefully any way to stop it, uninstall it, kill it with fire? (Note: getting her a new phone is not an option at the moment.) I can't find any info on "My Sprint Launcher" online at all, and it doesn't show up as a running app. Manually uninstall Zephyr Enterprise/Community Edition. She plays a few games, but nothing intensive (and the ad-bandwidth for those seems to be accounted for). ![]() ![]() She doesn't watch videos or do anything like that. It appears to have started up in mid-May for some reason, and has been going since then (maybe increasing, not sure). After a helpful call with Ting CS, I discovered under "Data Usage" on her phone that something called "My Sprint Launcher" accounts for about 80% of the bandwidth she's used (said another way, it's more than 5x her actual usage). She's not a huge phone user, so I checked it out. My wife has a Galaxy S4 mini, and I received a notice from Ting about how much data it was eating up. ![]()
